Compact Disc Rot

Today I came across an interesting video on YouTube. For a long time, I was advocating that compact discs are not infinitely durable. This video shows the effects of about, I guess, 30 years worth of time on then-current CD technology. You may watch the entire video, but I have it preset at the most relevant moment.

More information is available on Wikipedia.

So if you have some old backups stored on compact discs, or anything at all of value stored on compact discs, you should probably consider moving this onto some other media.
